IDP and Licence Requirements for Orcar Rentals in Korea

For Orcar rentals in Korea, drivers using a foreign licence need a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) for insurance coverage. They must also hold their physical home-country licence. A translation, digital licence or screenshot does not replace these documents.

Documents for driver registration

If you use a foreign licence, prepare your passport, valid IDP and physical home-country licence for driver registration. Upload clear photos of the documents requested on the registration screen. If you use a Korean licence, follow the Korean-licence registration flow.

Check document validity

Check that your documents remain valid through your rental return date and cover the vehicle you plan to drive. Having an IDP does not by itself confirm rental eligibility. Orcar checks the documents during driver registration; unclear documents may need staff review.

Complete driver registration before pickup

Complete driver registration before pickup and check the result on the registration screen. If staff review is needed, Orcar will contact you when it is approved or a correction is required. Staff review has no fixed completion time.

If you cannot obtain an IDP

If you cannot obtain the required IDP before your trip, do not plan to drive an Orcar rental using a translation alone. Arrange other transport, such as public transport or a taxi, for your trip.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a digital licence?

No. You must hold the physical licence card. If you only have a digital licence, ask your licensing authority whether it can issue a physical card before your trip.

Can a translated licence replace an IDP?

No. For an Orcar rental in Korea using a foreign licence, a valid IDP is required for insurance coverage.
